2021 IMC and IFGC Combustion Air and Venting 0.6 ICC CEU Course Description:

The 2021 IMC & IFGC Combustion Air and Venting course will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the key areas of the 2018 International Mechanical Code, 2018 International Fuel Gas Code, and related standards regarding combustion air & venting systems. The following publication is recommended to ensure success in the course:

• 2021 International Mechanical Code® (IMC®)

Learning Objectives:

1. Locate and understand requirements for specific appliances in the 2018 IFGC & 2018 IMC.

2. Locate applicable tables in the 2018 IFGC regarding combustion air requirements and apply data examples.

3. Apply code requirements to clear-cut real world situations.

4. Explain the intent behind a given code requirement.

5. Use judgment to identify borderline scenarios as compliant or noncompliant.

Michael Mannan, International Code Council

Michael Mannan is currently the Director of Home Environmental Health with the City of Milwaukee’s Health Department. In his current role, he oversees compliance with construction codes, fire codes, local, state, and federal requirements involving the built environment and pragmatic solutions for funding and remediation of environmental hazards in buildings undergoing significant renovation. He is a Registered Sanitarian, International Code Council Nationally Certified Fire Marshal (FM), Certified Building Official (CBO), and Certified Housing Code Official (CHCO).

Prior to joining the Health Department, Michael spent 18+ years in code enforcement, permitting, inspection, and licensure strategy and implementation in Milwaukee’s Building Inspection department. Mr. Mannan has been a committee member of various City Committees including the Abandoned and Foreclosed Home Committee, Building Variance Committee, and the Zoning Code Technical Committee with the City of Milwaukee. Aside from municipal management, Michael Mannan is also an Adjunct Instructor for the International Code Council nationally and Building and Fire Code Academy regionally for architectural plan review, permitting, and inspection. Mr. Mannan also serves as an Expert Witness for premise liability and faulty design litigation involving health and life safety hazards for national law firms.
