Course Title: Permitting and Inspecting Commercial Solar Electric Systems (morning)

Course Description:   

This is a half-day course will cover commercial rooftop and ground-mount photovoltaic systems and will incorporate applicable sections of the National Electrical Code, International Building Code, and International Fire Code.

Objectives:

*Understand Code overlap when applied to commercial PV systems

*Understand Code requirements for commercial PV design

*Be able to identify common code violations

Course Title: NFPA 855 and Battery Energy Storage Systems (afternoon)

Course Description:   

This is a half-day course will introduce NFPA 855: Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems.  Discussions will be centered on Lithium-ion and Lead Acid batteries in residential and commercial buildings.

Objectives:

*Understand the scope of NFPA 855

*Understand residential and commercial system requirements

*Be able to identify common code violations

Robert Hattier is the Director of Renewable Energy for IBEW Local 134. He also serves as the Executive Director for the Illinois IBEW Renewable Energy Fund, a State of Illinois grant funded Workforce Development Organization authorized under the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA).

Bob has over 20 years of experience in the solar energy and adjacent technology industries. Since 2008, Bob has been teaching courses on Solar, Energy Storage, and Electric Vehicle Charging Systems throughout the Midwest.

Bob holds several industry specific credentials and licenses.  Bob’s dedication to advancing the renewable energy industry can be seen in his involvement with several organizations as a Board Member, his codes and standards development committee appointments, his creation of industry specific curriculum, and his allied professional training initiatives.
