This course provides the attendee knowledge and information on responding to service requests regarding buildings with structural damage to: (1) identify and follow the steps in a standard procedure regarding buildings reported as having structural damage, (2) describe types of structures and their structural elements, (3) list and identify types of building damage, (4) describe and recognize the function of major building materials, products and building sciences, (5) follow steps to building assessment based on damage type, and (6) to write reports, conduct follow up, and utilize check lists. This course also aids an attendee’s ability to inspect, conduct plan review, administer or manage damaged buildings and update safety personnel.

Presented by:

Richard A. Piccolo is a Master Code Official with over 35 years of experience in plan review and inspections. He worked full time on the Elk Grove Fire Department. During the time on the fire department he worked a shift and performed plan reviews and inspections for the Fire Prevention Bureau.

He has been the President of B & F Technical Code Services, Inc for the past 22 years. They perform plan reviews and inspections for numerous municipalities in Illinois and other states. The Building & Fire Code Academy has operated under his supervision for the past 10 years. It is a State of Illinois approved Vocational Trade School and provides training throughout the United States.
